01

Identify the seats and claimed functions

Ask for the actual seat configuration, adjustment controls and options included on the candidate. Use the equipment record to separate original features, disclosed changes and unsupported claims. Do not infer heating, memory or another function from upholstery appearance. A photograph can show visible controls without demonstrating operation. If the buyer rejects the car without a specific feature, name it in the initial brief. That makes the inspection and comparison purposeful and prevents a broad comfort-package label from being accepted in place of the actual function the customer wants to use.

02

Establish an ordinary driver position

Have the intended driver set the seat and relevant controls appropriately using applicable instructions. Assess ordinary reach, visibility and practical preference rather than an exaggerated showroom position. Where longer travel motivates the purchase, arrange a suitable journey assessment instead of promising comfort from a brief sitting test. Record the particular occupant and setup. Seat preference varies, and the dealer should not claim a configuration fits everyone or supplies a medical benefit. A useful assessment explains why this driver values the feature and whether the actual seat supports the position needed for normal ownership.

03

Include the passengers who use the saloon

Check front-passenger needs independently and include relevant rear-seat arrangements. The saloon comfort guide keeps occupants and ordinary seating positions central to the review. Entry can matter as much as adjustment, especially where daily parking limits the door opening. Use realistic conditions rather than judge an empty cabin with every door fully open. If a passenger requirement cannot be met, do not treat the driver's preferred seat as approval of the entire car. Record the limitation so another salesperson understands whose fit was assessed and what further evidence is needed.

04

Demonstrate each function that affects price

Use an appropriate operator and applicable instructions to check the essential adjustments or comfort functions. Note which tasks worked, which were unavailable and which raised concerns needing qualified assessment. A memory button or menu does not prove every advertised result. Avoid diagnosing an internal component from one remote video. If a function depends on equipment beyond the visible seat, establish that configuration before assigning value. Keep operational findings separate from the occupant's subjective preference. The buyer should know which benefit is verified and which remains a seller promise requiring completion before acceptance.

05

Inspect wear against a defined finish standard

Review visible bolsters, stitching, material condition and disclosed repairs with appropriate provider help. Cleaning, recolouring and replacement are different proposals and should not be treated as the same outcome. Ask whether the suggested work can meet the actual customer's appearance and function requirements. Use the condition review scope to keep supported findings and inaccessible areas explicit. Obtain complete quotations where preparation matters, including installation or setup identified by the provider. Do not let an attractive material name obscure a repair concern or assume that any seat can be restored cheaply after purchase.

06

Retain the accepted configuration and result

Write the seat type, essential functions, assessed occupant arrangement and accepted finish into the vehicle file. Include any work required before release and the evidence needed for rechecks. New offers need delivered-specification review; used ones additionally need wear and disclosed history. A substitute with similar trim wording requires its own essential fit and function assessment. At receiving, compare the actual seats and controls with the approved record. The dealer can then describe the specific comfort benefit accurately without extending one practical observation into a guarantee of universal fit, flawless condition or a fixed option resale premium.

If regular rear passengers drive the seating brief, use the adult rear-seat check with ordinary front positions and the actual required occupants.
